If you’ve noticed that your local Willard Batteries Xpress or SABAT Batteries Xpress Facebook page or website now has a different name, here’s the simple answer: SABAT Batteries Xpress and Willard Batteries Xpress have combined to become Xpress Batteries.
Nothing about your local store will change except the name. You’ll still find the same people, trusted service, battery specialists and leading brands. However, everything you know and trusted about SABAT Xpress and Willard Xpress are now backed by a larger network of more than 79 stores across South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho, with a broader product range and even more specialist expertise.
Why have SABAT Xpress and Willard Batteries Xpress become Xpress Batteries?
For years, SABAT Batteries Xpress and Willard Batteries Xpress have helped motorists, businesses, farmers and outdoor enthusiasts find the right battery for the way they live and work.
While each brand built its own loyal customer base, both shared the same approach: specialist advice, professional fitment, trusted products and genuine customer service.
Bringing the two retail networks together under one name lets customers enjoy the best of both. Instead of operating as separate brands, Xpress Batteries now offers one larger specialist network with more locations, a wider range of products and the same experienced teams customers have come to know and trust. It’s an evolution of two successful businesses, built on the experience and relationships developed over many years.
Has my local SABAT Xpress or Willard Batteries Xpress store closed?
No. Your local store is still there. The team you’ve dealt with before is still there, and the specialist advice, battery testing, professional fitment and warranty support you expect are still available. The only noticeable change will be the name above the door.
Existing customers can continue visiting the same location with confidence, knowing they’ll receive the same friendly service from the same experienced battery specialists.
What does Xpress Batteries offer?
Xpress Batteries brings together one of Southern Africa’s largest specialist battery retail networks. Customers now have access to more than 79 stores, including 34 stores in Gauteng, with additional locations in Namibia and Lesotho. Every store stocks a broad range of trusted battery brands, including Willard, SABAT, VARTA, GP and the new Xpress Battery range.
Rather than limiting customers to a single manufacturer, Xpress Batteries helps match the right battery to each vehicle, application and budget.
Whether you’re looking for a battery for your family vehicle, commercial fleet, motorcycle, golf cart, agricultural equipment, caravan, boat or backup power system, you’ll find expert advice and multiple trusted options under one roof.
What is the new Xpress Battery range?
Alongside the launch of the new retail brand, Xpress Batteries is also introducing its own house brand: Xpress Battery. The range expands the choice available to customers while complementing internationally recognised brands such as Willard, SABAT, VARTA and GP. The result is even greater flexibility when selecting the right battery for different vehicles, applications and budgets.
Why choose a battery specialist?
Modern vehicles and equipment place very different demands on a battery. Daily commuting creates different requirements to long-distance travel. Commercial vehicles work differently to passenger vehicles. A golf cart, caravan or boat each has its own electrical demands. Choosing the right battery involves much more than matching the physical size. That’s why Xpress Batteries focuses exclusively on batteries.
Our trained specialists help customers select the right battery, professionally test existing batteries, provide expert fitment and support every purchase with reliable warranty assistance. It’s specialist knowledge built around one category, rather than batteries being just another product on the shelf.

Customers can also take advantage of Battery On Call mobile delivery and fitment services in selected areas, bringing professional battery testing and installation directly to their home or workplace.
